Hate to Cook?

Eating fast foods and processed foods is a great alternative, but we should not make it a habit. The food content is high in fat, salt and sugar. Sadly, the food looks and taste great but is so unhealthy, and can add extra pounds, especially with regular consumption. High sugar content is also found in soft drinks, juices and baked goods.

As a result there is an increase in diabetes, which is now a world wide epidemic (Lam, David W.; LeRoith, Derek, 2012). Diabetes affects both blood pressure and cholesterol which can lead to heart disease and hypertension.

Another draw back of process foods, is the salt intake, and the preservatives. The human body only requires 1 teaspoon of salt daily, but we consume much more (Van De Wallen, 2018). Soup, sauces, cheese and relish all have salt, which can be harmful to the body, especially if you have hypertension.

You may not like to cook, but you may be healthier if you do. To stay healthy and well, you will have to make better food choices, especially as you age.

Bon Appetit!
