Aging, What is so Good About It?

This article is not about the signs and symptoms of aging but about my reflection of my life as I age and how I chose to cope with those changes.

I recently celebrated a birthday and have been reflecting about my life, the choices I have made and what the future holds. I am thankful that I am still here and aging gracefully. As we age, we slow down a bit and our hair gets thinner, we gain weight and lose our stamina.

I have been trying to defy these normal processes by continuing to exercise and watch my diet to remain active and strong. Although I am not in age group to the people in these photos, I know its coming one day and I honestly fear it. FEAR, false evidence appearing real can be very paralyzing. I have found that if you acknowledge the fear, the outcome is never what you imagined.

According to experts we can slow the aging process by watching our diet, exercising and knowing our numbers (lab and blood pressure). Even though this is true, somethings are bound to occur as a result of aging, and our own mortality becomes real. No matter what your circumstances are we must continue to live our lives to the fullest and engage in activities that make us happy. Its therapeutic to do something for someone else, it will make you feel better.

Stay healthy and well…and dance like no one is watching…
