Dreams, the Stories and Images Created by the Mind..

We all dream. Dreams are stories and images that our mind create while we are asleep, and they only last between 5 to 20 minutes (Nichols, 2018). I can never remember my dreams, and can not tell you the last one I had. However, I can remember having recurrent dreams as a child. Some of my dreams were terrifying, and I would wake up exhausted from running all night. Dreams also can be exciting and fun, romantic and or strange.

Here are some facts about dreams.

  • Dreaming can help you learn and develop long-term memories.
  • Blind people dream more with other sensory components compared with sighted people.
  • Dreams may represent unconscious desires and wishes.
  • Dreams maybe used to consolidate and process information you gathered during the day.

“Dreams can happen at any time during sleep. But you have your most vivid dreams during a phase called REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, when your brain is the most active. Some experts say we dream at least four to six times a night” (WebMD, 2019).

What kinds of dreams are you having? What are your dreams trying to tell you something? Sleep well and sweet dreams!
